Club announces writing contest for youths

The Kansas Author’s Club, a statewide organization for anyone interested in writing, announces its 2007 Youth Writing Contest for Kansas students in grades 1-12.

Entrants may submit one entry in each of three categories: fiction (to 500 words), nonfiction (to 500 words) and poetry (to 40 lines). Entrants are grouped into five age divisions: first and second grades, third and fourth grades, fifth and sixth grades, seventh and eighth grades, and ninth through 12th grades. Winners receive medals for first through third places.

The postmark deadline is June 15, and winners will be announced Oct. 5 at the Kansas Authors Club Convention in Wichita.
