Two Lawrence men were among the victims of a robbery-and-shooting incident early Sunday outside a Denver light rail station.

Two masked men approached a group of seven people who were leaving a music venue about 5 a.m. Sunday. The men demanded money and other items. After seizing the money, the robbers shot three people in the group.

The victims were John Watt, 22, a Kansas State University student; Ian Dumpert, 22, a Lawrence resident; and Joseph Kuebel, 23, a Kansas University student.

Kansas University student Trenton Foster also was in the group, but not injured.

Denver police spokeswoman Virginia Quiñones said none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Quiñones said police believe the incident was linked to several other robbery incidents in the area over the weekend.

The suspects fled on foot.
