A 54-year-old Maud, Okla., man told Lawrence police he was stabbed Wednesday night as he walked in the downtown area.

The man sought treatment at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where officials called police. He was treated for a laceration.

The victim told police he was walking toward the west when someone grabbed him and stabbed him. The suspect then ran away. Nothing was taken. He had no description of the suspect, including whether the assailant was a man or a woman.
