KU student arrested for attempted rape

A Kansas University student was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted rape at a residence hall on campus.

According to a KU Public Safety Office report, a female was sleeping in McCollum Hall when the alleged attempted rape occurred.

An 18-year-old male was interviewed and then arrested by KU police and brought to Douglas County Jail, according to jail records.

The man was released from jail on Friday on $15,000 bond.

KU police had no further information Friday evening about the case.
