More Douglas County Sheriff's officers will be watching for drunken drivers from midnight to 4 a.m. Saturday.

Instead of a check lane, extra officers will patrol certain areas of the county for drivers who may have consumed more than the legal limit of alcohol, said sheriff spokeswoman Lt. Kari Wempe.

Lawrence police officers are not scheduled to perform a saturation patrol in the city this weekend, said police spokesman Sgt. Paul Fellers.

Hipper-than-hip

Personally, I'm allergic to all beers. Sucks to be in the land of 2 dollar pitchers. Pass the Big Bottle and I'd be OK, although much poorer. {pourer?, pass the Bottle}

Life's too short to drink bad beer. Support your local microbrewery!

One could enjoy a mixture of bud light and jimmy beam. This makes for a great drink for the holiday
