Eileen Young, Sandy Barnes, Susie Curtiss and Amanda Guengerich, who work in food service and school nutrition for the Lawrence school district, attended an annual conference for the Kansas chapter of the School Nutrition Association in Topeka.

They had the chance to attend educational sessions covering nutrition; health and wellness; handling stress in the workplace; sanitation; personal safety; and the benefits of being a school food-service professional.

Among speakers at the conference was Margaret Bobonich, a nurse practitioner who competed on the Guatemala edition of “Survivor,” a CBS reality show.
