Crowd packs chapel for its rededication
St. Anselm’s Chapel, the Episcopalian chapel near Kansas University, was rededicated Sunday after renovations and remodeling refurbished the old building.
The Rev. Dean Wolfe, Episcopalian bishop of Kansas, presided over a complete service that included blessing of the chapel’s chalice and paten – implements used during communion – as well as the chapel’s processional cross. Wolfe thanked the crowd for packing the small chapel, even though Kansas University had just started its Big 12 Tournament game, as well as for their work all along.
“They saw this building that wasn’t ramshackle, but had fallen on hard times,” he said.
One attendee, Kirsty Elliot, said with the overhaul, it only made sense to hold a rededication and consecration of the altar.
“When you add new things and take away old things, it is something different,” she said.
