City asking residents to assess services

Lawrence residents soon will be asked to grade the quality of city services.

City staff members began mailing 2,500 surveys to randomly selected Lawrence residents Friday. The survey will ask residents to grade quality of several types of city services, including:

¢ Basic services such as snow removal, street maintenance, curbs and sidewalks, water quality, street lighting and code enforcement.

¢ Public safety services from the fire and medical and police departments.

¢ Responsiveness issues related to customer service and communication with the public.

The city is asking residents to return the survey within a week. Telephone calls will be made beginning the week of March 26 to households that haven’t responded to the survey.

City commissioners are expected to be presented with the results in late April or early May. ETC Institute, a Kansas City-based market research firm, is conducting the scientific survey.
