A woman suffered minor injuries Friday morning after fire broke out in an East Lawrence home.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical crews responded at 7:06 a.m. to a duplex at 1027 N.J.

Division Chief Doug Green said the first crews on the scene saw light smoke coming from the home and they extinguished a fire in an office area inside.

Crews treated an injured woman at the scene.

Green estimated damage to the structure at $30,000 with another $10,000 in damage to the contents.

He said the office suffered fire and water damage, and that there was smoke damage throughout the unit.

The other unit in the duplex suffered only minor smoke damage.

The cause remains under investigation.
