Summer horse show slated for Saturday

A variety of horse breeds are expected to compete Saturday at the Kansas Summer Classic Horse Show.

The show is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St. It will include activities, classes and competition in more than 30 categories.

Show director Mary Sharp is expecting a much larger turnout Saturday than in the last four years.

“This year looks to be our biggest one because we have bigger awards and bigger payback,” she said.

The cost is $10 to register for a class, and people can do so at the gate. The cost to attend is $3. Children 10 and younger will be admitted for free.

Funds raised will benefit Midnight Farm, a rural project of Community Living Opportunities in Douglas County that provides services for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
