Golf tournament to help Lawrence schools
A charity golf tournament July 16 at Eagle Bend Golf Course will benefit Lawrence Schools Foundation.
Zig & Mac’s, 1540 Wakarusa Drive, will sponsor the event, a competition between four-person teams. For $100, participants also receive a lunch before the tournament and a barbecue dinner at Zig & Mac’s afterward. The three best-scoring teams will win prizes.
All proceeds will go to the foundation, which will use the money to start a fund to help the district attract new teachers and retrain current teachers. Some of the money will also go to local scholarships.
Potential participants can register at Zig & Mac’s or e-mail zigandmacs2@sunflower.com. The lunch will begin at noon, and the tournament kicks off at 1 p.m.
