Peoples Bank in Lawrence announced that the financial company had donated $11,933.29 to the American Red Cross to help with relief efforts in Greensburg, the Kansas town destroyed by a May 4 tornado.

All nine Peoples locations in northeast Kansas accepted donations from guests and the general public last month. The bank also contributed $2,500.

Jane Blocher, executive director for the Red Cross in Douglas County, said that the donations allowed more than 635 Red Cross disaster relief workers to provide shelter, food, comfort and meet other needs for survivors and survivors' families.
