An observance to honor sacred places, people and all those who care for and protect them will take place at 5:55 a.m. today.

The sunrise ceremony at the Wakarusa Wetlands will be a part of the National Day of Prayer for the Native Sacred Sites. After a short program, anyone who attends is welcome to offer words, songs or a moment of silence for sacred places or those being mistreated now.

"We are celebrating the beginning of the new season," said Thomasine Ross, president of the Save the Wakarusa Wetlands Inc., which is organizing the ceremony, along with the Morning Star Institute, a national organization dedicated to protecting native people's religious and cultural rights.

Are we supposed to believe that the oragnization "Save the Wakarusa Wetlands Inc." really cares about the sacred rights of native americans? This is clearly a small group of individuals trying to stop the progress of the SLT. Maybe we should form an aliance group called "Get the SLT Built".
