Event to celebrate Clinton Park makeover
The Pinckney Neighborhood Association is set to host an event to celebrate a major refurbishing of Clinton Park at Fifth and Alabama streets.
The association will provide free popcorn, soda and music to the public at 6 p.m. Friday at the park and has invited city leaders. Steve Braswell, president of the neighborhood association, is billing the event as a rededication of Clinton Park, which has undergone a refurbishing that includes a new shelter house, restrooms and landscaping.
“It looks great,” Braswell said of the work. “We really just wanted to express our appreciation to the city, and let them know we’re real happy with what they’ve done.”
The city spent about $235,000 to revamp the park, which is one of the two oldest parks in the city.
The music for the event will be provided by the Euphoria String Band, which Braswell said plays a mix of bluegrass and “good time” music.
