Moms, children give phones to HopeLine

Mothers and children from Mom’s Club North, a Lawrence-area volunteer group of stay-at-home moms, recently donated 100 no-longer-used wireless phones, plus batteries and accessories, to the Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine program.

Eight mothers and 14 children made the donation at the Verizon Wireless Communications Store at 2301 Iowa last month.

Verizon Wireless collects no-longer-used wireless phones and accessories from any wireless service provider. Most of the donated phones and equipment are refurbished and sold, with proceeds going to support domestic violence awareness and prevention programs, including those in Lawrence.
