Lawrence competing to be All-America City

The competition is under way in Lawrence’s quest to be named an All-America City.

A team of city executives – led by City Manager David Corliss – is in Anaheim, Calif., to compete against 19 other communities vying to be named an All-America City by the National Civic League.

The competition involves representatives from each city making presentations on the community’s vision, and how the city uses collaborative problem solving and inclusiveness to meet local challenges. Ten of the 20 cities will be named All-America Cities during a Friday evening award ceremony.

The only other city in Kansas competing for the award is Shawnee.
