Lawrence police arrested six men early Tuesday who reportedly forced their way into an apartment and began attacking people with baseball bats.

Earlier, some of the suspects had attended a party in an apartment at The Legends, 4101 W. 24th Place. They left following a dispute with others but returned shortly after 1 a.m. with additional friends, and a fight broke out. Seven other men and a woman were in the apartment, a police report said.

The suspects left the apartment and were found by police after officers stopped a car at 24th Street and Brookside Drive. The men were from Lawrence and Eudora and ranged in age from 18 to 24.

The Douglas County Jail log shows six people were arrested in connection with the incident. They were booked on suspicion of aggravated battery, disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.

Three of the victims sought treatment at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. An investigation is continuing.
