Motor carrier faces fine for violation

A Lawrence company has been fined $500 for violating regulations pertaining to motor carriers, the Kansas Corporation Commission announced Thursday.

The commission fined Dreamscapes Landscapes & Irrigation Inc., Lawrence, for allowing or requiring a driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle without a valid medical examiners certificate.

The company was among 56 carriers in the state that were fined a total of $126,000 for violations during the first three months of this year.

The violations were discovered during safety compliance audits of 162 motor carriers, performed by the commission’s Transportation Division, which is responsible for regulating public and private motor carriers in Kansas.
