Sandy Praeger, Kansas insurance commissioner, is winner of the Jim Edwards Alumna of the Year Award from Leadership Kansas, the leadership growth program of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce.

Praeger, Lawrence, is a former Lawrence mayor and state senator. She received the award given to a program graduate “with achievements in the social, business and political fabric of Kansas.”

Praeger, a 1986 Leadership Kansas graduate, twice has served as its program chairwoman. She also served a term as chairwoman of the Leadership Kansas Board of Trustees, and continues to help organize alumni events and presentations.
