Community shelter plans barbecue
One of Lawrence’s downtown homeless shelters will play host to its third annual BBQ & Block Party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday on 10th Street between Vermont and Kentucky streets.
The Lawrence Community Shelter, Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen and Oread Neighborhood Association organize the party.
A musical group, Sally Howard and Friends, will perform from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Howard is a singer, songwriter, musician and chief counsel for Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
Musicians Ardys Ramberg and Bradford Hoopes of Ardys and Bradford will perform from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Food will be provided.
