Boy Scouts celebrate 100th anniversary
The Boy Scouts of America Pelathe District will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouting with a ceremony at 8 a.m. Aug. 1 in front of US Bank at Ninth and Massachusetts streets.
The event, celebrating the 1907 founding of the first Boy Scout camp in England, will feature flag ceremonies, a proclamation from the city and a ceremonial birthday cake. The public is invited.
The Pelathe District includes Scouting units in Lawrence, Baldwin City, Eudora, Lecompton and Linwood
