To the editor:

Now that littering is in the news (i.e., Clinton Lake fishing area), I wonder, does the city of Lawrence have a littering law? If so, I know how it can pick up a tidy piece of change: Post enforcers out at the Clinton Adult Sports Complex parking lot.

There must be some sort of deliberate game in progress out there, especially among the beer-drinking crowd. Despite trash barrels conveniently located all over the lot, the beer drinkers (and it is mostly beer bottles and wrappers), purposely leave their bottles and cans all over the lot.

Perhaps they should use the Youth Complex instead, under the supervision of real adults, who will explain and demonstrate the proper way to dispose of trash. Even pigs don’t foul their own pens!
