Outreach to offer free blood pressure tests

A blood pressure screening is set for Monday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

Senior Outreach Services at the library is sponsoring the screening, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Pattie Johnston, the Senior Outreach coordinator for the library, said the screening is free and open to anyone.

“It’s just supposed to give you an idea of how you are doing and if you need to see a physician,” she said.

At 6:30 p.m., a demonstration of utensils that make everyday activities easier for physically impaired people will be held.

This is the first screening the library has sponsored, and Johnston said she hopes to make it a regular event.

“Too many times people ignore things that are a problem, and this is a less scary way to do it in place of going to a doctor,” Johnston said.
