GLPM employees qualify for state team

Eight employees of Lawrence-based GLPM Architects Inc. have qualified to serve on a disaster assessment team as part of the Kansas Disaster Building Damage Assessment, Inspection and Recovery Plan.

GLPM employees who are certified for the program include David Livingood, Bill Graham, Jerome Ratzlaff, Mark Muller, David Vance, Thom Allen, Jennifer Kulseth and Tom McCasland.

The program provides trained building inspectors, architects and structural engineers to inspect structures damaged in a disaster, and to evaluate the need for long-range planning in replacing a community’s physical resources and infrastructure.

The program was developed by the American Institute of Architects in Kansas, the Heart of America Chapter of the International Conference of Building Officials, and the Kansas Division of Emergency Management.

All volunteers of the program are on loan from their respective firms or jurisdictions. Each volunteer must be trained and certified by Kansas every two years.
