July 2, 2007

Recent Lawrence High School graduate Sasha Plotnikov hit the jackpot at Project Graduation, an adult-supervised and drug- and alcohol-free party for graduates.

Plotnikov won a 1999 Mazda 626, donated by Laird Noller Automotive.

Scholarship drawing winners at the May 27 event at Abe & Jake's Landing, 8 E. Sixth St., were:

¢ Henry Reiske, LHS, $500 from DCCCA.

¢ Tony Williams, LHS, $250 from McDonald's.

¢ Bianca Fernandez, Free State High School, $500 from the Harrison family.

¢ Eric Abney, Free State, $250 from the Sheldon-Sherman family.

¢ Michael Davidson and Alyssa Finnestad, both of Free State, $250 each from the Project Graduation 2006 donation.

¢ Michael Hurtig, Free State, $500 from the Journal-World.

Steve and Karen Brown won the Baymont Inn & Suites overnight stay in the parent donor drawing.

Interesting that the event to announce the prize winners for an adult-supervised, drug- and alcohol-free party for graduates was held at a place that, not only serves alcohol, but has had issues in the past with people who have consumed too much alcohol there.

Doesn't every bar have issues with people who have consumed too much alcohol?
