The human family

To the editor:

Why must anyone defend their beliefs? Aren’t we all on a journey to self-knowledge and to find a way to eliminate our destructive emotions and live in harmony with everyone? Here is what Nobel laureate his holiness the Dalai Lama says about embracing ourselves and the world from a loving perspective: “Developing a kind heart, a feeling of closeness for all beings, does not require following a conventional religious practice. It is not only for those who believe in religion. It is for everyone, regardless of race, religion or political affiliation. It is for all who consider themselves to be, above all, members of the human family.”

It couldn’t be said better.
