Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police responded early Sunday at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after they received reports of a possible sexual assault.

Arriving just before 4 a.m., police found a 20-year-old St. Joseph, Mo., woman who allegedly had been raped by a 24-year-old Leavenworth man. The Kansas Highway Patrol had transported the woman to the hospital, police said.

¢ A 26-year-old Lawrence man reported that he was attacked Jan. 23 by two unidentified men during a disagreement about a barstool at Cross Town Tavern, 1910 Haskell Ave. The victim alleged the men stole his gold-and-diamond ring, valued at $1,400.

Injury accidents

¢ An Oskaloosa man was taken to Kansas University Hospital on Monday afternoon after losing control of his vehicle while driving west on Kansas Highway 92, six miles east of Ozawkie.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, Cody Gellings, 19, was not wearing a seat belt and was driving at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the eastbound lane and drove into a ditch, rolling about five times. His 1990 Oldsmobile passenger car came to rest in a creekbed 1,090 feet off the roadway. Gellings was ejected from the vehicle in the crash.
