Tree concerns

To the editor:

To our open-pocketbook community, especially the taxpayers, I have noticed there are a lot of trees being planted in the medians of our streets. Seems like a big waste of money. I don’t know the root system of the trees, but my guess is that in a few years they will start cracking the streets.

When it comes to keeping trees alive, if there is no rain the trees will need water. Then they send out a truck and partially block one lane of traffic as they move from tree to tree with a hose. I imagine when they mow, it takes a lot longer to trim around the trees.

My suggestion is to get the community some weed whips and let them have some fun.
