Kansas City, Mo. ? President George W. Bush landed in downtown Kansas City, Mo., this morning to talk about health care just two days after making a major policy proposal in his State of the Union address.

Accompanied by Missouri Sen. Kit Bond, Bush spent about 20 minutes on the tarmac shaking hands with Kansas City Chiefs General Manager Carl Peterson and other local business leaders. The president also recognized Susan Hoskins, of Weston, Mo., for her volunteer service.

The president will be in Kansas City until about 1:30. He is to visit St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and hold a round table discussion on health care.

Bush was last in the area just days before the November election, when he attended a rally in Topeka for then-Rep. Jim Ryun. He was last in Kansas City in September, when he headlined a fundraiser for former Sen. Jim Talent.
