Torgerson sets record at invite
Topeka ? Free State’s Chase Torgerson set a school record while winning the 100-yard backstroke Tuesday at the Topeka Invitational.
The Firebirds placed third in the nine-team boys swimming meet, and Lawrence High placed sixth. Shawnee Mission East won with 585 points; Free State had 339, and LHS had 141.
Torgerson had a first-place time of 53.29 seconds in the 100 backstroke.
The Firebirds’ Mitch Moore placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.59).
Lawrence High’s top placings were by Zach Henderson, who took sixth in the 100 butterfly (57.79) and sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:01.39).
