A woman was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital this morning following a one-car rollover accident near Vinland.

The accident happened around 8:39 a.m. in the 700 section of East 1750 Road. First responders found a blue Ford SUV on its top near the icy gravel road. The woman was initially pinned inside, they said.

The woman was treated at the hospital and released.

Yocal-- Dambudzo is right.

Also, yocal is actually spelled "yokel."

and it's "if YOU'RE" not "if your".

But as many grammer mistakes as are made on here, I'd rather someone post their thoughts than worry about their spelling.

As long as we're correcting people, it's "grammar," not "grammer."

"and i believe the use of the comma and period belong outside of your quotation marks."

Nope.

Probably outta suggest removal on everything in this whole thread. Wow!

By the way, you can roll over anything. Last one I was on in bad weather was a thunderbird. Flipped it right over. As a matter of fact - I've never seen a SUV rollover. Maybe a dozen or so cars and one pickup truck.

"The comma can go inside or outside.'

Only if you truck with those lousy Redcoats. Better dead than red. ;)

Rolling over is very often due to the profile of the vehicle--Jeep Cherokees and other SUVs are often not only high off the ground, but they are very heavy and tall, which means that, when they lean to one side (as all vehicle do when turning), they are more top-heavy.
SUVs are built on truck frames but they do not drive like trucks in slick or windy conditions. Virtually any vehicle with good ground clearance relative to its size has a rollover risk, even little Japanese cars.

I used to pair rollovers with Jeep Wranglers, but extended SUVs like Explorers and Tahoes have now surpassed Wranglers as the vehicles I see or hear about rolling over.

Everyone needs to watch out, though, because the people in the SUV are not the only ones at risk when an SUV loses control!!

4 wheel drive may give you better grip when applying the accelerator, but it doesn't do squat when you hit the breaks. All cars have 4 wheel brakes, so the mighty SUV will do no better than the 1979 Pacer. Given the center of gravity, it will probably do worse.

Bad drivers are bad drivers, regardless of the car they drive. I'd rather be on the road with 100 SUVs driven by people who know what they are doing than 40 accords driven by distracted, mindless, inattentive people. The driver, not the make/model, is the real danger.

wow, didn't expect a seminar!

in criticizing each others' spelling, grammar, syntax, or nosebleeds, it is important to remember that posting on this sort of a forum is rather a cross between spoken and written communication. you aren't writing for your eighth-grade english teacher, though she might have been sexy, she was rather strict.

No matter what you're driving, ice is ice, and you won't get traction on it unless you're driving a Sherman tank.

Unfortunately, many drivers of SUVs (and other vehicles) don't realize this.

Wow. I did blow it. Thank you for the corrections.

But I stand by my statement - if we limit the boards to only those who are perfect spellers and 100% grammar-perfect, the boards will be blank! I don't want anyone to hesitate to write something just because they can't spell or are afraid to be attacked.

What was the topic again?

I hope she is OK too. And I'm glad that post was pulled.

Now, go make all the drivers in Boston use turn signals and your lives will be complete.

There is no such thing as an " accident ". Everything is preventable when a human is involved. Those of you who think there is a God, then there are cases of " acts of God ". Most of the time when there is a crash on an icy, snow, muddy road, speed is a factor.

No one's gonna comment on the should of/should've misconception? I mean, going to, not gonna.
