Commissioners unanimously agreed to extend the operating permit for the Lawrence Community Shelter for an additional five weeks to give city staff members more time to review the shelter’s request for a one-year renewal.

City planning staff members will be participating in an intense weeklong workshop in early February that will limit their ability to review development and permit applications. The shelter permit was scheduled to expire on March 7. The extension will allow the permit to run through April 17. City commissioners are expected to review the request to renew the permit at their April 17 meeting.
