Wages clarified

To the editor:

I feel the need to set something straight about the article on the minimum wage increase. I believe that Rudy’s Pizzeria was not given a fair shake. Everyone who works there makes a base pay, but also makes commissions and tips. The end result is a wage that is two to three times that of minimum wage and far above what is considered a living wage. People who work at Rudy’s do so for years because they do get paid well and are treated with much respect. On top of treating its employees well, Rudy’s donates to almost every local organization that asks for help, including churches, schools, charities and more. For 16 years this locally grown business has done right by its employees and the community and deserves to have the record set straight.
