Schauner files for candidacy
City Commissioner David Schauner kicked off his re-election Wednesday.
Schauner, who had said Tuesday that he planned to seek a third term, made an official announcement Wednesday at City Hall in front of campaign supporters.
Schauner, who was first elected to the commission in 2003, reiterated that his main campaign points would be creating fiscally responsible local government, creating more jobs and emphasizing the need for long-range planning for growth.
Schauner was the first of three incumbents whose terms expire in April to announce a re-election bid.
City Commissioner Mike Rundle attended Schauner’s announcement event, but said he was not ready to talk about his own political future.
