Weather radios back in operation

TVs, regular radios should be monitored

Lawrence-area residents can return to relying weather radios to warn them of severe storms moving into the area on Saturday afternoon.

Repairs to the system are complete. Earlier Saturday, 6News meteorologist Jennifer Schack said she had been told that the transmitter operated by the Topeka bureau of the National Weather Service were inoperable.

With the completion of repairs, weather radios are useful again, she said.

Schack’s forecast: Storms will become a greater possibility as we head into the afternoon after 3 p.m. – any developing storms could be strong, with large hail and strong winds. Showers will be possible throughout the afternoon.
