Man pulls out knife at downtown nightclub

Lawrence police were called to the Granada late Friday night in response to calls that someone inside the nightclub brandished a knife.

According to police, a man inside the Granada, 1020 Mass., was bothering people inside the establishment.

When Granada staff approached the man, he pulled out a folding pocket knife.

Granada staff then called police immediately. When police arrived at the scene, the man had already left, departing in a brown or blue sports utility vehicle headed southbound on Massachusetts Street.

As of late Friday night, the suspect had not been located.

According to Sgt. Richard Nickell, the only description of the suspect is a black male wearing a brown jacket at the time of the incident.

No injuries were reported.
