Heartland Works earns state award

Heartland Works Inc., operator of the Lawrence Workforce Center, received a Workforce Investment Act Incentive award from the Kansas Department of Commerce. The award gives Heartland Works additional financing, based on the agency’s meeting or exceeding goals in each of the federal performance criteria areas for the most recent program year.

Heartland Works serves a 17-county area through its five centers in northeast Kansas: Lawrence, Atchison, Topeka, Manhattan and Junction City. The centers connect job seekers to training and social service providers to deliver job-ready workers to employers.
