Latino high schoolers to attend summit

About 170 Latino high school students will visit the Kansas University campus today for KU’s first Latino Leadership Summit.

The daylong event at the Kansas Union will include workshops about leadership and college preparation.

“They might not know that college is a possibility for them. We want them to know that there are resources out there for them,” said Aida Garcia, program assistant with the KU Office of Multicultural Affairs, which organized the event.

Latino students from the Kansas City metro area, Lawrence, Topeka and Wichita with at least a 2.0 grade-point average and leadership potential were invited to the summit.
