Heartland Medical receives grant

Heartland Medical Clinic received a $5,500 grant from the Kansas Association for the Medically Underserved to help fund the clinic’s medication assistance program.

The grant helps the clinic pay for having a program coordinator on staff and to buy computer software to streamline the clinic’s existing program. The grant will help the clinic combine various resources into a single program providing low- or no-cost medicines to people who qualify.

Heartland Medical Clinic, on the lower level of the Lawrence Riverfront Plaza at Sixth and New Hampshire streets in downtown Lawrence, is operated by the Leo Center, which provides food, financial assistance, pregnancy services and counseling to those in need.
