Former U.S. senator to speak on campus

Former U.S. Sen. Nancy Kassebaum Baker will speak next month on the Kansas University campus, KU announced Monday.

Kassebaum Baker will give the annual Emily Taylor and Marilyn Stokstad Women's Leadership Lecture at 7:30 p.m. March 6 at the Dole Institute of Politics on West Campus.

The event, administered by the Hall Center for the Humanities, is free and open to the public.

Kassebaum Baker is a native Topekan and daughter of former Kansas Gov. Alf Landon. In 1978, she was the first woman to be elected to the Senate, where she served for nearly 20 years.
