Offices, services close for Presidents Day

Several government offices and public services in Lawrence will be closed today in observance of Presidents Day.

City of Lawrence offices will be closed. Douglas County offices will be open, but Douglas County District Court offices will close.

Government offices will be closed in most area towns.

State offices will be open.

Federal offices in the General Services Administration and the federal courts will be closed.

Most banks – outside of a few locations – will be closed.

Lawrence Transit System buses will run, as will Lawrence Bus Co. buses. Classes and business at Kansas University will go on as normal.

City of Lawrence refuse and trash collection will not be altered. Parking meters in downtown Lawrence will be free today.

Lawrence public schools will be open, as will the Lawrence Public Library.

The Lawrence Workforce Center, 2540 Iowa, will be open.

All services and facilities through Douglas County Senior Services will operate with normal hours. Lawrence Meals on Wheels will deliver.

The Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen will be open.

The post office won’t make deliveries today, and the post office will be closed.

UPS and Federal Express will make regular deliveries.

The business office at the Journal-World will be open regular hours.

USA Today will be delivered.
