Topeka Free State High senior Melissa Burnside rolled a 565 series as the Firebirds' girls bowling team topped the 2,000-pin mark for the first time this season Wednesday in a second-place finish at a three-team meet at Topeka Gage North Lanes.
The Free State girls finished with 2,001 pins, three behind Topeka High.
The Free State boys also finished second with 2,333 pins. Shawnee Mission West won with 2,347.
Senior Nick Kennedy led the Firebirds with a 625 series.
Free State will return to action at 3:30 p.m. today against Lawrence High at Royal Crest Lanes.

Baldwin - Blake Wieden scored 25 points, and Dustin Schiller dealt 13 assists to lead the Bulldogs.
Victor Ojeleye scored 35 points to lead Ottawa.
Baldwin (12-5) will play Friday at Kansas City Turner.
