To the editor:

To those legislators concerned about revenue sources for upkeep of our public institutions, why not a new coal plant tax?

Why are the governor and Legislature so willing to bend over backward for the proposed Sunflower Plant, which is not needed for Kansas power needs but rather is being planned to support Denver sprawl by a private group of investors?

It seems like they can only do the opposite of what is right and approve this power plant proposal while not taxing it. Why? Demand an answer!

Republican Rep. Rob Olson, of Olathe, says, “This plant is probably the best solution we’ve got right now.” Yet he fails to acknowledge that the plant is not for Kansas but rather for Denver power production spurred on by Front Range sprawl in Colorado.

Mr. Olson must know about sprawl – being from Olathe.
