Winter storm expected to cause inconveniences

Another winter storm is bringing more snow to the area today.

The National Weather Service issued a snow advisory that began at 9 p.m. Thursday and stretches to noon today. Light drizzle was expected to begin Thursday night and develop into snow after midnight. Snow was expected to fall until the afternoon. Little or no ice was expected to accumulate with the storm.

Jennifer Schack, 6News chief meteorologist, said the winter storm was moving from central Kansas to northeastern Kansas.

“It will exit quickly,” she said. “That’s part of the reason we won’t see huge accumulation because the system is moving rapidly.”

Moderate snowfall will last through 8 a.m. and decrease through the rest of the morning, ending about noon, she said.

Overall, it will be a cold, bleak day, Schack said.

“If we see any sun, it will be late tomorrow,” Schack said Thursday night. “There will be wind chills in the 20s all day.”

A snow advisory is issued when light snow is expected to develop, but only enough to cause inconveniences, such as travel delays.
