11th Street west of Mass. to close
The city of Lawrence is temporarily closing a portion of 11th Street for construction.
Contractors working at Watkins Community Museum of History, 1047 Mass., will close the street from the alley just west of the museum to Massachusetts Street today and Friday. While drilling is under way to install a water line to serve a sprinkler system, through traffic will be prohibited on 11th Street west of Massachusetts Street.
The contractor plans to open 11th Street for one lane each direction after Friday, but parking and the left-turn lane may be removed.
Until work is completed, Lawrence Transit System Route 7 will use New Hampshire Street to 10th Street to avoid the closure.
