Gun defense

To the editor:

This is in response to Pat Kirk’s Dec. 13 letter, “Who needs guns?”

We, the innocent Americans, can’t count on the police to be in our home at the split second someone breaks in. Do you actually think you’re going to have time to call the police, and if you do, how much can happen between the call and the time they arrive?

People need to take some responsibility for defending themselves and their family. Guns don’t kill people; people kill people. People will get guns, law or no law. Since when has any law stopped anyone from doing what they want? There are so many ways to kill a person. Do I need to list them?

Kay Opper,
