Oread hotel plans up for review tonight
Plans for a seven-story hotel on the edge of the Kansas University campus will be up for review tonight before Historic Resources commissioners.
The Historic Resources Commission will review a new design for The Oread Inn, a 105,000-square-foot hotel project slated for 12th and Indiana streets.
The project – proposed by members of the Gene Fritzel Construction Co. – already has been rejected by the HRC. But developers have tweaked the design of the building since the HRC saw it earlier this fall.
In November, city commissioners said they generally liked the project but wanted members of the HRC to review the new design to see whether it addressed their concerns.
The HRC reviews the project to determine whether it would fit in with the surrounding historic neighborhood. Ultimately, though, it is up to city commissioners to approve or reject the project.
The HRC meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. today at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets.
