Lawrence Community Shelter’s Holiday Gift Program needs volunteers and breakfast foods for their hot breakfast for the homeless from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Christmas morning.

¢ Women’s Transitional Care Service Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program needs supplies and nonperishables for families living at the shelter.

¢ Volunteers are needed to help serve the Community Christmas Dinner at First United Methodist Church in Lawrence from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 25.

¢ Volunteers are needed for various positions at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

¢ American Red Cross Douglas County Blood Drive needs volunteers to escort donors, set up the facility or work in the canteen serving food. Volunteers are needed at various times from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 13 at First Christian Church in Lawrence.

¢ Central Junior High students need volunteers for a knitting/crocheting teach-in for a project honoring Martin Luther King Jr. from 2:40 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. Jan. 7-8, with the option of staying after school to continue to help.

Volunteers need to know how to do simple crochet, cast on stitches and the knit stitch and be willing to help students learn.

¢ Mother to Mother seeks volunteers to help with child care from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every fourth Monday starting in January.

Mother to Mother is also looking for volunteer moms to be paired with volunteers who provide companionship and advice. Mothers are paired based on personalities and parenting styles.
