Livestock-handling seminar is scheduled

Producers looking to improve the health and safety of their livestock and reduce stress for both people and animals are invited to attend a seminar to be conducted by Dr. Lynn Locatelli, a veterinarian from Benkleman, Neb.

The seminar, “Low Stress Livestock Handling,” will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Lawrence. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m.

Locatelli – who has worked with Bud Williams, a well known livestock-handling expert – has shared her knowledge with producers at the Kansas Graziers Conference, Kansas Livestock Association convention and seminar series, and in other states.

Cost is $25, which covers a meal and supplies, and preregistration is required. For more information, or to register, contact the Douglas County Extension Office at 843-7058 or bdwood@ksu.edu.
