Kansas University Student who died in dorm identified

Kansas University announced Monday that the student found dead in his Oliver Hall room on Saturday was Skyler Price, a 19-year-old graduate of Free State High School.

Julie Boyle, Lawrence school district spokeswoman, said extra crisis support counselors were available at Free State for any current students who knew Price.

KU officials said there was no sign of foul play, and Capt. Schuyler Bailey of the KU Public Safety Office said a cause of death was pending the results of an autopsy, which could take four to six weeks to complete.

When reached on Monday, several of Price’s friends said they were virtually certain his death was not a suicide. They said they, too, believed there was no foul play.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church West Campus in Lawrence, and Aqmar Rahman, a friend of Price’s, said he hopes to have a candlelight vigil outside Oliver Hall at 8 p.m. Friday.
